Kayjez featured on Into The Dark : Pure on HULU

Woohoo! Kayjez got a great placement on the Hulu horror show Into The Dark : Pure.

Thanks so much to our friends at Position Music for making this happen, and for Troy Welstad and Kevin Penner for being equally important and awesome partners in the music making process of Kayjez.

NEW MUSIC ALERT!! Check out my sidepiece Kayjez

My band Kayjez just released our first ever full length record!

We wrote and recorded most of this during the last few months of my pregnancy. I barely finished the vocals before I literally ran out of air... like, my lungs yo. The body is weird and wonderful and also amazing, and I'm super grateful to be able to use it to sing and also make people.

Anywhoo. If you love some pretty/gritty pop and a couple of chicks singing about candy, wanderlust, and destiny, you might enjoy this record.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog.

Much love and Alohas,

Jess

Baby Squid Costume Tutorial + Free Pattern

So it's almost Halloween which means it's time to get costuming! One of the requests I got on my youtube channel was to make a costume for my baby (it will be his first Halloween) and after much pontification and searching the vast plains of the inter webs I decided I would make him a squid.

When it comes to sewing I would classify myself as a "serious dabbler". My mom started teaching me to sew as a young girl. Some of my earliest memories are of her sitting at the machine sewing me lace edged dresses and my very own childhood Halloween costumes... I've even sewed a wedding dress or two (just for fun... because... I'm a freak).

This costume was a lot of fun to make AND a lot of work, and truthfully I am super excited to share it with you guys.

Here is the PDF pattern and instructions!

Slice and Song #3: Lilikoi Chiffon Pie - Sweeter

Slice and Song #3 Lilikoi Chiffon Pie - Sweeter

It’s new video Monday! This weeks episode of Slice and Song features a super nostalgic (aka: Hamura Saimin Copycat) Lilikoi Chiffon Pie. Lilikoi is the Hawaiian name for passion fruit which I grew up foraging for and eating all throughout my childhood and beyond.

If you want to see a Hawaii girl lose her mind - show up with something lilikoi flavored! Lilikoi cupcakes, lilikoi margaritas, lilikoi chiffon pie... all of it.

I thought it was only fitting to perform “Sweeter” in this episode seeing as it is actually the only song of mine in which ukulele is the predominant instrument played.

Hope you enjoy :)
